Singapore’s got it going on! Besides having Big Night Out, Singapore will host Australian music festival, St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival for the first time ever.

Laneway Festival, one of the foremost indie rock festivals in the Asia-Pacific region will make its debut appearance in Asia in 2011. And in Singapore as well. The press con was held yesterday afternoon at the New Asia Bar where organizers Chugg Entertainment announced that bands like !!! (Chk Chk Chk), Beach House, Deerhunter, Foals, Holy Fuck, Ladyhawke, Warpaint and Yeasayer will be performing at the Fort Canning Park on 29 January 2011.

Topping the bill will be highly rated Aussie band The Temper Trap, who (surprise surprise) was present at the press con to deliver an excellent (albeit short) acoustic set. Already expectations are sky high for this unique music festival.

Architects (UK) premieres their "Day In Day Out" video for their latest upcoming full length album "The Here and Now" which will drops on January 25th 2011 on Century Media records

http://www.altpress.com/aptv/video/exclusive_architects_uk_day_in_day_out_video/

Since their formation in late 2004, Brighton, England quintet ARCHITECTS have been on a continual ascendancy from the depths of the UK’s metal and hardcore underground to leaders of the scene.

Writing, recording and releasing their debut album ‘Nightmares’ while the members were only 17 years old, Architects’ blend of technical metal, melodic hardcore and thundering grooves quickly captured national attention, their ferociously tight and energetic live performances only further proof that this band was destined for great things.

Within a year of ‘Nightmares’ release via In At The Deep End Records (Gallows), Architects had toured the UK and Europe alongside the likes of Sikth, Beecher and The Chariot, performed a live session for Radio One, signed a Canadian deal with Distort Entertainment (Alexisonfire, Cancer Bats) and completed work on what would become their sophomore album.

At this point, Architects was a band with such momentum that even the departure of original vocalist Matt Johnson could not slow them down. Securing replacement frontman Sam Carter in record time, Architects unveiled their second album ‘Ruin’ in June 2007 to critical acclaim across the board, Carter’s dynamic combination of feral intensity with a melodic range perfectly matching the album’s expanded and progressive musical horizons.

Voted as one of the best albums of the year by Radio One, ‘Ruin’ proved to be the band’s breakthrough effort, securing Architects a position at the top of the UK metal and hardcore community. In support of the album’s release via United By Fate/ Distort, Architects performed at the prestigious Download Festival at Donington Park, clocked up a rare second live session for Radio One and hit the road once again alongside the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, As I Lay Dying, The Red Chord, Gallows and Enter Shikari, trekking relentlessly across the UK, Europe and Canada.

At the beginning of 2008, Architects unveiled two stunning new tracks as part of a split E.P with fellow Brightonians Dead Swans and secured a worldwide deal with Century Media Records (Arch Enemy, Sick Of It All, Cryptopsy, Strapping Young Lad), which marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in their story. The prolific quintet are all set to record their third full length in July 2008, with a worldwide release planned for early next year. Meanwhile, an enhanced edition of ‘Ruin’ will be released via Century Media in mainland Europe on July 21st and North America on August 5th.

Hugely ambitious, hard working and at the top of their game, the year ahead will surely see Architects making waves the world over.

Their latest single “Day In Day Out” comes from the band upcoming full length “The Here and Now” which will drops on 25th of January on Century Media

Parkway Drive Live Set from Vans Warped Tour 2010

Parkway Drive

Blasting out of Byron Bay, almost as an affront to the serenity of their surrounds, PARKWAY DRIVE quickly established themselves as the most formidable force Australian heavy hardcore had ever seen. A five- piece of astonishing power and understated charisma, PARKWAY DRIVE created unseen hysteria with their brutal 2005 full-length debut, “Killing With A Smile”. The album spent time in the ARIA National Top 40, affirming the astounding popularity of a band who had grown their fanbase from genuine hardcore roots.

Relentless touring has been one of the keys to PARKWAY DRIVE’s success. Sold-out national headlining runs, Big Day Out and Homebake appearances and the 2006 Taste Of Chaos Tour has been their reality. Recently, too, PARKWAY have begun to leave their indelible mark on the world stage. Having signed an enviable overseas deal with indie giant Epitaph, they have spent a large part of the past year abroad, crisscrossing North America, Europe and Japan, a 31-date stint on the 2007 Vans Warped Tour being just one of the many highlights. The world, it seems, is catching onto what we in Australia have known for a while.

On October 6, 2007, Parkway Drive unleashed their standout sophomore effort, “Horizons”. Recorded once again by producer and Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz (As I Lay Dying, Underoath, Unearth, Killswitch Engage) at Zing Studios in Boston, MA, Horizons debuted at 6 on the ARIA chart, 1 on the Australian Artist chart and 1 on the Independent chart. Horizons takes the PARKWAY DRIVE sound to totally new extremes. A bone-crunching avalanche of classic hardcore, Swedish death and math-metal, it’s destined to be one of the biggest circle-pit-inducing albums of ’07.

The quiet confidence and lack of arrogance expressed by the band is what lies at the heart of PARKWAY DRIVE’s massive appeal. They have this ability to destroy an audience, to decimate a venue with complete and utter malice, yet at the same time show everyone in the place the time of their lives. This is the kind of relaxed, no- nonsense attitude you get growing up in Byron. PARKWAY are just five ordinary dudes who came together to create one extraordinary band.

The last album “Deep Blue :

2009 was nothing but a blur for the Byron Bay quintet. Starting the year with a tour of SE Asia and Japan, followed by tours of the USA and Canada, Parkway Drive then embarked on an endless summer appearing at some of the largest heavy music festivals Europe and the UK has to offer including appearances at Download (UK), Greenfield (Switzerland), Hove Fest (Norway), Graspop (Belgium), West Coast Riot (Sweden) and many more.

In August the band released PARKWAY DRIVE: “The DVD” a 70 minute documentary looking at the rise and rise of the Byron juggernaut. Featuring archival footage dating right back to their very first shows, the film follows the quintet from humble beginnings on the beaches of the NSW North Coast to storming stages all over the world. Debuting at # 2 on the ARIA chart, within a week of its release, “The DVD” was certified Gold and a few months later achieved Platinum sales status. By year’s end it was Australia’s biggest selling local artist DVD and was crowned ‘Best Music DVD’ at the 2009 Rolling Stone Awards.

In March 2010 Parkway Drive returned to the studio to record their third album, Deep Blue. The hotly anticipated follow-up to 2007’s Horizons, Deep Blue raises the bar in every conceivable way. While maintaining the band’s uncompromising metallic-hardcore style at its core, it pushes into exciting new realms, drawing from a wider scope of influence, incorporating everything from anthemic punk to bloodcurdling death metal.

With improved musical abilities and a thoroughly inspired approach to songwriting, Parkway Drive have tied the music and lyrics together into one all-encompassing concept. “It’s basically about the search for truth in a world that seems to be devoid of that,” says vocalist and lyricist Winston McCall, explaining the narrative running through Deep Blue. “The story is told through the eyes of a man who wakes up and realises that his life is a lie and nothing he believes in is real. So he tries to find the truth within himself and his journey takes him to the bottom of the ocean and back again.”

Having recorded their first two albums with Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage, Deep Blue was tracked and mixed in Los Angeles, CA by Joe Barresi (Queens Of The Stone Age, Bad Religion, Tool), and mastered by legendary mastering engineer Brian Gardner.

Crisp, unprocessed and impossibly heavy, the production on Deep Blue brings out every nuance of Parkway Drive ‘s freshly re-focused sound.

“It’s definitely the Parkway record I’m most proud of,” claims Winston. “We felt like were in the deep-end recording with someone new, so to have it come out exactly how we wanted it, and pretty much exceed our expectations, is a big ask, but that’s exactly what Joe did for us.”

With 13 tracks in all, standouts include “Sleepwalker,” “Deliver Me” and “Unrest”. Bad Religion guitarist and Epitaph owner Brett Gurewitz makes a guest vocal appearance on “Home is for the Heartless,” which brings epic punk rock choruses and crazed metallic finger-tapping guitar work into the established Parkway paradigm.

“We figure that song is going to be the most polarizing thing we’ve ever written,” Winston says. “People are either going to like it or they are going to hate it. I think it worked. That’s one of my favorite songs on the record!”

Already one of the most anticipated heavy releases of the year, Deep Blue represents an exciting new chapter in the story of Australia’s most successful hardcore band. Parkway Drive will land stateside this summer with explosive performances at the Vans Warped Tour in support of the new album.

The first time I saw this instrument was at the BJORK Concert in Jakarta, February 2008. I had no idea what it was, so I started searching to figure it out. This is what I found.

The Reactable was conceived and developed since 2003 by a research team at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. Sergi Jordà, Martin Kaltenbrunner, Günter Geiger and Marcos Alonso presented their creation for the first time in a public concert at the International Computer Music Conference 2005 in Barcelona.

The Reactable is a revolutionary new electronic musical instrument designed to create and perform the music of today and tomorrow. It combines state of the art technologies with a simple and intuitive design, which enables musicians to experiment with sound, change its structure, control its parameters and be creative in a direct and refreshing way, unlike anything you have ever known before.

The Reactable Live! is the result of many years of research in the field of computer music and human-computer interaction. The Reactable Live! interface is clean and direct, without text lists or endless config menus, it puts the whole music creation process in the hands of the musician.

Only by designing the hardware and software together could we create a completely new instrument that truly is a step ahead of anything else in the market.

How it works

The way the Reactable works is deeply inspired by modular analogue synthesizers such as those developed by Bob Moog in the early 60s and enhances them with new concepts of sampling and digital effects processing.

While with modular synthesizers one typically had to connect these different modules with patch cables in a complex and error-prone process, with the Reactable this is attained in a much easier and more intuitive way, since connections between the blocks are managed automatically based on their types and affinities and on their proximity.

See The Reactable in Action!

Our friend from Hong Kong RAMORAWR has provides us with review of SpaceToParty’s favorite Metal outfit from Sheffield, UK.

The title is one heck of a mouthful-so much so it’s abbreviated form is still a hassle in itself: TIAHBMISI,TIAHLKIAS. The album? In short, it’s the album title’s sonic equivalent: a full-on assault on the ears of breakdowns galore and shredding riffs; compelling screamo and adept stringwork. For obvious reasons, There Is A Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let’s Keep It a Secret is from this point onwards referred to simply as There Is A Hell… inclusive of the ellipses. Bring Me The Horizon have always been known to pump out musically intense records, and their latest record, their third full-length studio album, is by all means, as intense as intense gets. For all intents and purposes, this is one album not for the faint of heart; this is all-out screamo meets so-hard-it’s-distorted hardcore metal. But that doesn’t make There Is A Hell… totally negative, on the contrary, the album exudes a head-strong power that forces its way through your speakers and has the ability overwhelm.

While Suicide Season saw Bring Me The Horizon’s chaotic anarchy of persistent screaming over a mean guitar breakdown showed their impressive skills at putting together a song capable of turning brains to Jell-O (Hear the chorus of It Was Written In Blood or the entirety of Sleep With One Eye Open). In contrast, on There Is A Hell…, the British five-piece and their overpowering brand of music dubbed DEATHCORE, and with good reason too (think metalcore and multiply it ten times over), have added a touch of wondrous song arrangement. The incorporation of strings and their dominant presence on There Is A Hell… add an ethereal quality to the brutal, and sometimes down-right tiresome screamo that perpetually inhabit There Is A Hell…-and every other single Bring Me The Horizon album have ever done, for that matter.

Intense would be enough to describe There Is A Hell…; the blend of extreme metal-extreme not in the slightest bit an overstatement-and pure hardcore very hard to appreciate for anybody unused to intense screamo, and challenging existing listeners’ threshold for aural pain. Frontman, Oli Syke’s constant growling and screaming and yelling may not be insufferable and unbearable, but one thing the tattoo-clad man of the British scene does do is make There Is A Hell‘…’s tracks drone with a certain monotone of howling screamo. More often than not, Bring Me The Horizon’s songwriting work on There Is A Hell… comes off as patchy and somewhat lacking; tracks carry off into the next one, some making their mark while others not quite able to shine. An good example would be the easily discardable Alligator Blood. By the time one would reach the said track, one would be so accustomed to the now-repetitive formula of blunt-trauma force to the ears; Alligator Blood’s faceless and forgettable appearance as fleeting as any chance of Oli Sykes actually using his vocal chords for things other than screaming.

There Is A Hell… starts off on the album’s highest point, the opener, Crucify Me and it’s fantastic rhythm drawing in the listener to a state that sends him off on a total high of sheer bulldozing insanity; the alternating between unintelligible growls and ferocious screams and then transitioning to entrancing techno truly making for an impressive beginning. As the sonic pressure and enjoyable excitement mounts, with tracks like Anthem begging us to “fucking sing” because it is, well, an anthem and the irresistible draw of Crucify Me, Bring Me The Horizon explode into a massive hook with a great sense of melody-finally!-in lead single, It Never Ends. Clearly, the album’s strongest track, It Never Ends’ usage of inventive structure and arrangement with the extensively effective utilization of a orchestral backing strings and a slight electronic tinge causing it to outshine any other track on There Is A Hell….

The inclusion of orchestral elements on There Is A Hell… add what little variety Bring Me The Horizon have brought to the table the third time around. The prevailing tone on a handful of songs that focus on the strings creating a lush atmosphere where the band show a semblance of musical depth; the refreshing break from directionless screamo evidently There Is A Hell…’s strongest quality. The determined screaming of Sykes set to elegant violins on Don’t Go and Blessed With A Curse’s well-crafted melodies and subtlety are probably the best tracks on the album, second to the promising direction have shown on album highlight, It Never Ends.

(read more here)

The Verdict: ●●●●●●○○○○ { 6/10 }

This is the fourth sequel of Jackass The Movie, will released on 15 October 2010 in USA. Directed by Jeff Tremaine, Write by Preston Lacy. From the first time Jhonny Knoxville are disagree with the idea of Paramount for making this 3D, because he want to protect the relationship inside that in fact they shoot all the movie by them self, the crew and the cast.

The set piece stunts are in bright and crisp 3D that really adds to the effect of whatever they are trying to do. As others have stated the intro is pretty cool but I was actually left wanting just a bit more. Note the paintballs though, in amazing 3D. This is Johnny, Ryan Dunn, Steve-o, Pontius, and Weeman’s show. Dave and Aaron end up getting hurt as usual but are awesome sports.

The intro to the movie was supposed to feature all the stars being hit in the head while being filmed with a super slow-mo camera, but Bam Margera could not participate after a woman assaulted him in the back of the head with a bat which caused internal bleeding.

“For this actually really work, it is real and we makes it more real, you know. I mean for other movie, to makes the art real, looks real. So if you already have something real, it was really real.” said Chris Pontius.

He has since moved on to bigger things like performing a song he wrote in front of the whole nation of Singapore for its national day celebrations. It will be interesting to see where ShiGGa Shay takes it next.

This will be the seventh album title for the British Acid Jazz Funk band Jamiroquai. It is produced by first-time collaborators Charlie Russell and Brad Spence. The song ‘White Knuckle Ride’ was released on 1 October 2010 as a promo single, though not as the first single off the album. The single itself was ‘Blue Skies’ a very acoustic ballad sounding track , rather disappointing for me. This album will released on 1st November 2010 in UK, and 3rd November in Japan.
