House Music In Singapore’s Clubbing Scene
September 1st, 2007
When I first entered the clubbing industry I did not understand the dynamics of it. But the fact that one person can control so many people on a dance floor made me curious about it. Its all about the vibe man, the body language. You have to read your audience & play for them, be humble.
When the night starts everybody is not that pissed yet. You need to play uplifting stuff, dont play your extreme beat & beeps only tracks then. Once the crowd is a bit pissed, they will be a bit more recpective & then you can experiment.
The biggest disappoinment with many DJs is the fact that they do not use vocals in their music. When you have a voice in the track , it makes the music more like music & not just some beats looped together by an amateur on fruity-loops. So please play vocals & not just beats.
Hey I am not an expert in this field. Just a clubber who has been in the business and understands what many people want by listening to what they say….
Your music is your personal property. But if you want others to enjoy it, You have to reach out. Cheers

tru.. tru.. the music is for the drunk men and sober women..If the dj wants to spin all his favourites, he should do it in his basement, DJ-ing is a real job!
